Independence Health System Welcomes 4 PCPs; 3 Trained at Latrobe Hospital

GREENSBURG, Pa., August 27, 2025 … Independence Health System (IHS) announced the addition of four primary care providers to its Westmoreland facilities: Alexander Androkites, DO; Adam Burke, DO; Matthew McAlister, DO; and Austin Meals, DO. Drs. Androkites, Burke, and McAlister completed their residency in the Latrobe Family Medicine Residency Program and have now returned as full-time providers.
Specializing in geriatrics, Dr. Androkites is board-certified in family medicine. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM)-Seton Hill, in Greensburg, and his Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. He completed his residency in the Latrobe Family Medicine Residency Program and his fellowship in geriatrics at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) St. Margaret. Dr. Androkites ia a member of the American Geriatric Society and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Burke is board-certified in family medicine. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from LECOM-Seton Hill. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Youngstown State University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Seton Hill University. He completed his residency in the Latrobe Family Medicine Residency Program and is a member of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Medicine.
With a particular area of interest in behavioral health, weight management, and counseling, Dr. McAlister is board-certified in family medicine. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from LECOM-Seton Hill and his Bachelor of Arts in Medical Anthropology from the University of Maryland-College Park. He served as a Resident Physician in the Latrobe Family Medicine Residency Program.
Dr. Meals is board-certified in family medicine. He completed his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. He served as a Family Medicine Resident in the Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Family Medicine Residency. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Meals is a member of the American Academy of Family Medicine (AAFP) and the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians (PAFP)
