When you excel at what you do, people notice. The Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at Greater Pittsburgh (RNC) certainly does and recently received several accolades to add to the previous ones they’ve been awarded.
“We were honored to receive a Customer Experience Award for achieving best-in-class customer satisfaction standards in Professional Therapy Services for 2025,” said Dana Fogle, RN, BSN, Nursing Home Administrator for RNC. “We offer the best therapy in Westmoreland County. We were also voted ‘Best of the Best’ Nursing Home in Westmoreland County three years in a row. In 2024, we were also voted ‘Best Place to Work’ and ‘Best Overall Business’ in Westmoreland County.”
Located at 890 Weatherwood Lane, Greensburg, RNC’s services are designed to serve you whether you or your loved one needs short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, or various specialty care services.
RNC’s selection of services and programs are designed to create an individualized plan for the health care of you or your loved one. “We offer Skilled Nursing Care, and specialized therapy programs including Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy. We also have a dedicated wound care nurse,” said Ms. Fogle. “Our skilled rehabilitation services provide comprehensive medical and physical rehabilitation to our residents. Offered seven days a week, these services are designed to help residents regain their highest level of health and functioning before returning home.”
In addition, RNC offers a comprehensive selection of medical specialty programs to help patients recover from injuries, illnesses and other conditions after their time in the hospital. “Our physician-led programs address the personalized needs of each resident, focusing on speedy recovery and optimized health, and our specialty programs include Orthopedics, Pulmonary, Cardiac, Diabetes, Neuro Rehab, Medically Complex, Wounds and Surgical,” said Ms. Fogle.
Respite care programs are also offered at RNC and are designed to give caregivers time to attend to their personal needs, with the knowledge that their loved one is receiving continuous care. Respite care is also an option for those who are interested in exploring long-term care choices.
What also distinguishes RNC is its staff. “We have many staff members who have worked here for many years in all departments. We also have a consistent leadership/management team. That is something you simply don’t see in this day and age,” said Ms. Fogle.
Most of RNC’s residents come from referrals. “Typically, we get referrals from area hospitals and home health/ hospices. Under special circumstances, we are able to take residents directly from home. And as far as waiting lists, we do not have one as our turnover of short-term residents is very quick—the hospital cannot hold residents until we would have a bed available,” said Ms. Fogle. RNC accepts various forms of payment from insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance and private pay.
“We consistently rank above the national average in areas such as: Nursing Care, Response to Problems, Dignity & Respect, Professional Therapy, and Overall Satisfaction,” said Ms. Fogle. “Our satisfaction rate for short stay residents is 90%, and our satisfaction rate for long-term care residents is 93.3%. A company called ACTIVATED INSIGHTS routinely calls our residents with a survey to assess the satisfaction of care.”
